UOC community in Serbychany confirms loyalty to Metropolitan Onuphry
The UOC community in Bukovyna has reaffirmed its loyalty to Metropolitan Onuphry and voiced support for Ukraine’s defenders in a video address.
On May 3, 2026, the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the village of Serbychany, Chernivtsi region, publicly confirmed its fidelity to the Church and its Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, UOJ reports.
The statement concerns the parish dedicated to the Synaxis of the Holy Archangel Michael of the Sokyriany deanery, headed by Mitred Archpriest Oleksandr Vlasov.
In their address, the faithful stressed that they remain in unity with the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the leadership of Metropolitan Onuphry.
The video statement also condemns Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and expresses support for the country’s defenders. In particular, the rector and parishioners declared: “Our community acts in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine. We condemn the war unleashed by the aggressor state, Russia, as well as the position of Patriarch Kirill. We support our defenders and our blessed Ukraine. We stand in truth, in prayer, and in unity – and this is not just words, it is our choice, our soul, and our faith.”
In this way, the community has publicly articulated both its ecclesial stance and its position regarding the ongoing events in the country.
Earlier, UOJ reported that the UOC had commented on the court’s decision to overturn the DESS “expert review.”
