The SBU has notified a metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church of suspicion in absentia
The security service accused the ROC hierarch of organizing fundraising for the Russian army and visiting territories not under Ukrainian control.
On June 18, 2026, the Security Service of Ukraine notified Metropolitan of Vyatka and Slobodsky Mark of suspicion in absentia. The agency claims that the hierarch was involved in material support for Russian troops. According to investigators, the metropolitan publicly supported the actions of the Russian Federation and organized a systematic collection of funds, medications, and equipment for the army's needs.
The SBU states that at the initiative and with the personal participation of the bishop, SUVs, generators, and food were transferred to the military. The security service also charged Metropolitan Mark with visiting territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts not under Ukrainian control.
On the basis of the collected materials, law enforcement officers initiated criminal proceedings under parts 2 and 3 of Article 110-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (financing of actions committed with the aim of forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power). The SBU is currently conducting comprehensive measures to bring the hierarch to justice.
As SPZh previously reported, the SBU notified the chief military chaplain of the ROC of suspicion.
