On the feast day of the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God, Metropolitan Ephrem of Kryvyi Rih led the Divine Liturgy and a religious procession at the cathedral.
On July 15, 2026, on the feast day of the Turkovychi Icon of the Mother of God, solemn divine services were held in honor of the main shrine of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the Transfiguration Cathedral of Kryvyi Rih, reports the eparchial press service.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Ephrem of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol, concelebrated by numerous clergy of the eparchy. During the Little Entrance, by the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Bishop Ephrem presented a number of clerics of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy with church awards.
After the Liturgy, a moleben was served before the wonderworking image, followed by a religious procession around the cathedral. The procession also carried the main shrines of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy kept in the Transfiguration Cathedral.
Concluding the festal divine service, the hierarch offered a prayer before the Turkovychi Icon of the Mother of God and addressed the faithful with a homily.
The Turkovychi Icon of the Mother of God is the main shrine of the Kryvyi Rih Eparchy. The venerated image was transferred to the Transfiguration Cathedral of Kryvyi Rih in 1998 following a religious procession through the deaneries of the eparchy. According to church tradition, the icon came to Kryvyi Rih with Orthodox settlers from Poland after World War II and has since been venerated as the heavenly patroness of the city and intercessor against misfortunes.
As the UOJ previously reported, Metropolitan Ephrem appointed a nun of the Intercession Convent as abbess.
