Earthquake strikes Mount Athos region

No reports of injuries or damage have been received so far.
On May 1, 2025, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale struck the area near Mount Athos. According to the Athonite branch of the UOJ, the quake was recorded southwest of the town of Ouranoupoli, near the Holy Mountain.
According to the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter was located just 12 kilometers south-southwest of Ouranoupoli, at a depth of 15.6 kilometers.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage.
Local authorities remain in control of the situation, and further details are being investigated.
Earlier, a stronger earthquake in the Mount Athos area was reported.
