UGCC Synod insists on in-depth preparation of seminarians for chaplaincy

Hierarchs of the UGCC advise not to rush into becoming chaplains – first a calling, then formation.
On June 4, 2025, the bishops of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, in a message to military chaplains signed by the Head of the UGCC, outlined specific steps for the development of the military chaplaincy institute, reports the UGCC Information Department.
The Synod stated that special attention should be paid to the seminary format of education. This will provide seminarians with the freedom to discern their vocation and access to relevant information.
The UGCC document states: "We consider it appropriate to prepare a separate course for seminarians, which would cover ethical, moral, spiritual, and pastoral issues related to the problems of war and the healing of its inflicted wounds."
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the UGCC showcased a censer made from a grenade.
