MP calls to identify and hold accountable OCU militants
The deputy believes that those who want to fight should go to the front or engage in sports rather than assault peaceful citizens.
On June 21, 2025, Ukrainian Member of Parliament from the "Servant of the People" party, Heorhiy Mazurashu, condemned the brutal beating of UOC priests during an attempted seizure of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Chernivtsi. He published the corresponding statement on his Facebook page, attaching a video of the attack.
The parliamentarian called on law enforcement agencies to identify the attackers and hold them accountable.
In his statement, the deputy published a video from the UOJ, showing the brutal beating of priests Fr. Vitaliy Honcharuk and Fr. Roman Forost. According to Mazurashu, the attack was carried out by the so-called Feognost's boys, who, as claimed, were brought in to seize the Holy Spirit Cathedral of the UOC.
"I think this footage is enough to identify all the participants in the brawl. All these thugs must be held accountable!" noted the MP.
"And if any of them are filled with energy and a desire to fight, they should not show it on the streets against defenseless citizens. Their 'heroism' can be demonstrated on the battlefield against Russian occupiers. At the very least, they are welcome in martial arts, where they can prove their strength honestly and with equal opponents. But not like this," wrote Heorhiy Mazurashu on Facebook.
We recall that on June 17, a group of OCU-related radicals broke into the grounds of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Chernivtsi. The invaders sprayed gas, beat the priests, and seized the inner courtyard. That day, UOC believers defended the Holy Spirit Cathedral.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Metropolitan Meletiy refuted claims that the attacker was a policeman.
