Hearing in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy postponed
The prosecutor requested additional time to familiarize himself with the motions filed by the defense.
On June 24, 2025, another hearing in the case of Metropolitan Arseniy, abbot of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, took place at the Sloviansk City District Court of Donetsk Region. However, the scheduled consideration of the defense motions did not occur for several reasons. The prosecutor stated that additional time was needed to review the motions submitted by the defense team.
The court was expected to continue reviewing the defense's request to return the indictment and to begin considering the motion to restore Metropolitan Arseniy’s rights to medical care and sanitary provisions.
The next court hearing has been scheduled for July 1, 2025. Like all previous hearings since October of last year, it will be held via video conference.
As a reminder, Metropolitan Arseniy has been held in the Dnipro pre-trial detention center since April 25, 2024 – a total of 14 months. The Sviatohirsk Lavra continues to call upon the faithful to pray for the imprisoned Metropolitan.
