Iran ayatollah declares Trump an "Enemy of God"
An Iranian ayatollah has declared anyone threatening the country’s Supreme Leader to be an enemy of God.
On July 29, 2025, Iran’s Grand Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani issued a special statement: he proclaimed a fatwa declaring that anyone who threatens the country’s Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is considered an enemy of God. Iranian media emphasized that this refers specifically to former U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by Iran’s state-run Mehr news agency.
In his fatwa, Hamedani stressed that an attack on the leader of the Islamic nation should be seen as an attack on the very pillar of Islam. In his message, the ayatollah mentioned Donald Trump by name, saying that “criminal president of the United States has nothing but murdering, plundering, and assassination in his black record and has consistently supported the crimes of the brutal Zionist regime.”
He warned that any attacks on the Leader of the Islamic Revolution would provoke a “harsh and crushing response” from the Iranian people and from all freedom-seeking nations.
“We declare that any attack on the Shia Marja and Leader of the Islamic Ummah is considered an attack on the pillar of Islam and also lives of all Muslims, and will receive a harsh and crushing response from the faithful nation of the Islamic Iran and all freedom seekers of the world,” the ayatollah said.
These statements came after Donald Trump claimed he had “stopped a 12-day war between Iran and Israel” and thereby “saved Khamenei from a very bad and humiliating death.” In response, Iranian state media said that the ceasefire had been “forced on the enemy” after Iran’s decisive military strike.
