Alferov emphasized that Germans of the Nazi era were raised on Protestant and Catholic ethics – and that Russians lose to them on every count.

The head of Ukraine’s Institute of National Memory, Oleksandr Alferov, told Maksym Krapivny in an interview that it is unacceptable to compare the highly cultured German people of the Nazi era with Russians.

Commenting on frequent attempts to compare Hitler with Putin, Alferov said such comparisons are unacceptable, since Putin loses to Hitler on every count.

“How can you compare a man who had a German education, who was an artist, who was raised on the philosophy and high culture of Germany, with this bastard?” Alferov asked, projecting that comparison onto all Germans of Hitler’s time and all Russians.

In his view, Nazi-era Germans, raised on Protestant and Catholic ethics, are vastly superior to Orthodox Russians.

“How can you compare the German people, who were raised on law, on obedience, on the powerful Protestant or Catholic Christian ethic, with the people who live over there in the East, with these goblins? And they have their own name – Russians, of course. You know, when people started saying ‘orcs-orcs.’ No, not orcs. Orcs are former elves. These are really just Russians,” said the director of the Institute of National Memory.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to a cleric of the OCU, his structure recognizes the heroes of the SS “Galicia” Division as saints.
