Bondarenko emphasized that secular authorities have never been able to achieve the destruction of the Church.

Political analyst Kostiantyn Bondarenko expressed confidence that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will survive the current persecution just as it survived the Bolshevik era. He shared this in an interview with Oleksandr Shelest, commenting on Zelensky’s decree revoking the citizenship of Metropolitan Onuphry.

“I wouldn’t call this the destruction of Orthodoxy. The Church has repeatedly endured persecution and gone underground. Moreover, secular authorities have never been able to destroy any Church. As soon as one politician or another left power, the Church would revive,” Bondarenko said.

The analyst emphasized: “If the Church survived the Bolshevik era, I think it will easily survive the ‘Kvartal’ era” (referring to Kvartal-95 Studio, which was previously led by Zelensky. It became widely known for its comedy shows, which address current political and social issues – Ed.).

Bondarenko also noted that a change of government in Ukraine will put everything in its proper place, and many of Zelensky’s decrees will be declared invalid or beyond the president’s authority. He included among these the decree revoking the citizenship of the UOC Primate.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Kostiantyn Bondarenko discussed whether the UOC Primate could be deported.
