As a result of a direct hit, the central part of the church was completely destroyed, the dome and central tower were demolished, and the ceilings, roof, and roofing collapsed.

In the village of Myropillia, Sumy district, as a result of Russian shelling, the St. Nicholas Archiepiscopal Monastery Metochion, one of the Orthodox spiritual centers of Sumy region, has been practically destroyed. This was reported by the press service of the Sumy Eparchy on July 9, 2025.

According to preliminary estimates, the central part of the St. Nicholas Church was completely destroyed as a result of a direct hit by guided aerial bombs or missiles. The dome, central tower, ceilings, roof, and roofing were destroyed.

The church lost its architectural integrity, the walls are deformed and crumbling, and the interior decoration is significantly damaged.

The house Church of the "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Icon of the Mother of God located in the monastic building was also destroyed.

"The St. Nicholas Church was the main adornment of the monastery courtyard, a spiritual center for Orthodox believers throughout the area. Its majestic architecture, inspired by classical forms, was a place of prayer, grace, and hope for generations of laypeople," the message says.

Earlier, on May 1, 2025, the Sumy Eparchy reported that shelling damaged the St. Nicholas Church, the house Church of the "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Icon of the Mother of God, the monastic building, and the metochion's utility fecilities.
