DESS publishes list of UOC organizations linked to Kyiv Metropolia
On July 17, 2025, the official website of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) published a list of religious organizations it claims are affiliated with the Kyiv Metropolia of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), which was previously ordered to “eliminate violations of the law on freedom of conscience and religious organizations.”
The list includes 154 religious legal entities that, according to the agency, must also comply with the same directive as the Metropolia.
The listed organizations are either part of or connected to the Metropolia. Among them are:
Religious organizations whose leaders, in accordance with the UOC Statute on Church Governance, are members of the UOC Council of Bishops, which is convened and headed by the Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine;
Religious organizations founded by the Kyiv Metropolia of the UOC, as recorded in accordance with Ukrainian law and entries in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Individual Entrepreneurs, and Public Organizations.
The list includes all dioceses and diocesan administrations, synodal departments, as well as dozens of UOC monasteries.
As previously reported by the UOJ, DESS has ordered the Kyiv Metropolia to eliminate the alleged “violations” by August 18.
