Israel begins large-scale preparations for the Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman

Israeli politicians are working to ensure unhindered transit for Hasidim to Ukraine for the Jewish New Year.
The Ministry of Transport of Israel is conducting extensive interdepartmental preparations for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) to ensure the pilgrimage of thousands of Hasidim to Uman from September 22-24, 2025. This was reported by the JewishNews publication.
The purpose of such thorough advance preparation for the arrival of Hasidim in Ukraine is to organize landing slots for Israeli planes and confirm their presence at airports in transit countries.
It is noted that due to the closure of Ukraine's airspace, pilgrims have to travel through neighboring countries - Moldova, Romania, and Poland, which complicates their journey.
Last year, for example, they faced difficulties in Moldova, particularly due to unpaid debts for services rendered.
The Hasidim also complained about Romania, Hungary, and Poland, where they were dissatisfied with the conditions and treatment.
"This year, Israeli politicians are striving to ensure smooth transit, particularly thanks to the new Israeli embassy in Moldova, although agreements with Moldovan authorities have not yet been confirmed," journalists claim.
As reported by the UOJ, last year 32,000 Hasidim arrived in Uman.
