Humanitarian aid from Chernivtsi Eparchy delivered to Sviatohirsk Lavra

About 11 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to monasteries in Donbas by volunteers of the Chernivtsi-Bukovynian Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. On the Feast of the Procession of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, August 14, 2025, 5 tons of this aid were handed over to the brethren of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, the monastery’s press service reported.

The cargo included food, household chemicals, hygiene items, household supplies, construction tools, as well as shoes and other essentials. Part of the products was provided by the Ascension Monastery in Bancheny, with the blessing of Metropolitan Longin.

The collection was carried out with the blessing of Metropolitan Meletiy of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna. Not only the people of Bukovyna contributed, but also Orthodox faithful from all over Ukraine and even from abroad. “In such collections, every contribution matters,” said volunteer Oksana (Maria) Tsyuha. “People donate what they can, and thanks to our joint efforts we are able to help the Lavra, which as a frontline monastery simply cannot survive without support.”

According to her, the aid was made possible thanks to the support of entrepreneurs, villagers, monasteries, as well as faithful from Germany. Special thanks were expressed to Abbess Dimitria of the Kremenets Monastery, who provided the vehicle to transport the cargo.

After visiting the Sviatohirsk Lavra, the volunteers also delivered aid to the Lavra’s skete in the village of Adamivka and to the Pokrovsky Convent in the city of Lyman.

“Hardly any humanitarian convoys reach the Lavra. That is why we thank all the donors – may the Lord reward each of you a hundredfold! We ask that you continue not to abandon the Sviatohirsk Lavra without help. We invite everyone who cares to join in! Autumn is approaching, and the monastery has many needs it simply cannot cover on its own right now,” Maria Tsyuha noted.
