Cross procession from Kamianets-Podilskyi sets out to Pochaiv Lavra

On the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, UOC pilgrims of the UOC set out on a multi-day spiritual journey, gathering in the village of Dolzhok.
On August 19, 2025, after the festive Liturgy of the Transfiguration, a UOC procession set out from Kamianets-Podilskyi to the Pochaiv Lavra, reports a UOC correspondent.
This pilgrimage to the Lavra has been taking place for almost 200 years.
After the Liturgy, breakfast, and the blessing of the clergy of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral of the UOC, the pilgrims left the church grounds and set off on their journey.
The two groups of the procession united in the village of Dolzhok on the outskirts of Kamianets-Podilskyi at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is from here that the Great Procession traditionally begins each year – all previous stages are considered preparatory.
This year, the organizers decided to start the procession without the traditional prayer service at the church walls, in a more modest format. The pilgrims continued their spiritual journey without breaks and long rest.
The procession from Kamianets-Podilskyi to Pochaiv is one of the largest religious pilgrimages in Ukraine, attracting thousands of believers from across the country.
Earlier, the UOJ analyzed why authorities in many regions prohibit UOC processions.
