Islamists kill nine Christians and injure eight more in Nigerian village
The attackers shouted religious slogans, set houses on fire, and called the local residents “infidels.”
On September 7, 2025, armed militants of the nomadic Muslim Fulani tribe stormed Wakeh, a Christian farming community in Agunu Ward, Kachia County of Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. As a result of the assault, nine Christians were killed and eight others wounded, reports International Christian Concern (ICC).
According to survivors, the assailants arrived on motorcycles and on foot, opened indiscriminate fire, and set houses ablaze. Eyewitnesses said the militants shouted “Allahu Akbar!”, threatened the villagers, and called them “infidels.” The attack lasted for more than two hours, forcing women and children to hide in the bushes.
After the assault, the bodies of seven of the slain were found in the fields and along paths around the village; two more later died from their wounds in hospitals. The injured were taken to local clinics and to a hospital in the city of Kaduna.
Wakeh has endured repeated Fulani militant attacks. Residents said recent violence also displaced families from nearby communities sheltering in the village despite the presence of military bases in the region. In those incidents, dozens were killed, churches and homes were burned, and more than 5,000 people were displaced.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in Nigeria Islamic radicals killed eight Christians.
