In Cherkasy, electricity cut off at UOC bishop's metochion over OCU's debts

Oblenergo demands that the Cherkasy Eparchy cover the electricity debt of the St. Michael's Cathedral seized by raiders of the OCU.
In the evening of September 16, 2025, electricity was cut off at the bishops' metochion of the Nativity of Christ of the UOC in Cherkasy. According to the Telegram channel "Dozor", citing its sources, the official reason given was debts for electricity of the St. Michael's Cathedral seized by raiders from the OCU.
It is noted that immediately after the seizure of the shrine in October 2024, the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC informed Cherkasyoblenergo that their property had been taken. Local authorities and representatives of the OCU announced that the cathedral now belongs to them, and it is henceforth the "OCU garrison cathedral."
However, it turned out that the "new owners" did not pay for electricity a single day. The cathedral now has a debt of 300,000 hryvnias.
According to documents, as noted in "Dozor," the cathedral is listed as the property of the UOC.
Cherkasyoblenergo, trying to force the Cherkasy Eparchy of the UOC to pay for the electricity used by the OCU raiders, cut off the power at the bishop's metochion of the Nativity of Christ.
As reported by the UOJ, earlier Dumenko stated that the Cherkasy hierarch of the UOC rejoices seeing his cathedral in the OCU.
