UOJ’s Greek branch called the channel’s removal “a flagrant violation of freedom of speech and an attempt to silence a voice that defends Orthodoxy.”

The editorial staff of the Union of Orthodox Journalists’ branch in Greece (ΕΟΔ) condemned the shutdown of its Greek-language YouTube channel, calling it “a flagrant violation of freedom of speech and a clear attempt to silence the voice that defends Orthodoxy and truth.”

“This is not the first time UOJ has become a target of censorship. In Ukraine, where the organization began its work in 2015, the authorities blocked the Ukrainian branch’s website with unfounded accusations of ‘propaganda’ and exerted heavy pressure on its staff. The Ukrainian branch faced persecution and restrictions precisely because it stood on the side of the canonical Orthodox Church and presented the truth in the face of one-sided propaganda. Now a similar scenario is being attempted in Greece,” the Greek UOJ editorial office wrote.

“We firmly state that no pressure, no exclusion, and no persecution – neither in Ukraine nor in Greece – will be able to force us into silence. The truth cannot be muted. Orthodoxy does not keep silent. And UOJ will continue to remain a source of strength, unity, and inspiration for the Orthodox community throughout the world,” the statement reads.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation is seeking, at the international level, to ban UOJ’s activity on social networks, YouTube, and Telegram.
