Bulgarian Patriarch: The Cross of Christ is an invincible weapon

Patriarch Daniel reminded the faithful that the Cross of Christ is a great holy relic and an invincible weapon, granting strength and victory over sin.
On September 21, 2025, the Patriarch of Bulgaria presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Sofia and reminded believers of the power of the Cross of Christ, according to the Sofia Metropolis.
Before the service, the rite of renewal of the church was performed. The Liturgy was concelebrated by Bishop Ioan of Branitsa, clergy of the Sofia Metropolis, and with the participation of students from the Sofia Theological Seminary.
In his homily, the Patriarch emphasized that the Cross of Christ is “a great holy treasure and an invincible weapon” for Orthodox Christians. He recalled that the Lord voluntarily took up the Cross out of love for humanity and called on the faithful to carry their own crosses with dignity, rejecting selfishness, complaint, and unbelief.
According to the primate, the Crucifixion was the victory over sin and death, and every Christian is called to follow Christ, living in faith and love: “Let us draw in the grace of God and, with boldness, not ashamed of the Cross of Christ, let us carry it with dignity.”
After the Liturgy, the new parish center was consecrated.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria delivered an extensive critique of atheistic views, drawing on modern scientific data.
