The American President called for the protection of religious freedom in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

On September 23, 2025, the President of the USA Donald Trump called Christianity "the most persecuted religion on the planet today" during his speech at the UN General Assembly. The American leader urged the international community to more actively protect religious freedom.

"Let us protect religious liberty including for the most persecuted religion on the planet today. It's called Christianity," Trump declared from the UN rostrum.

This statement was made in the context of a broader call by the American President to defend traditional values and national sovereignty.

In the same speech, Trump criticized the effectiveness of the United Nations, noting that it "does not solve the problems it should solve" and "too often actually creates new problems". The US President also touched on issues of migration policy, energy, and international conflicts, presenting his vision of the priorities of American foreign policy.

The statement about the situation of Christians was made in the concluding part of the speech, where Trump urged world leaders to "protect their borders, ensure their safety, preserve their cultures, treasure and traditions", refering to their peoples.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that, according to Trump, religion needs to be brought back to the USA.
