Two days after the authorities sealed the cathedral, the parish is now praying outdoors.

On October 12, 2025, following the sealing off of the Dormition Cathedral by local authorities, Metropolitan Volodymyr of Volodymyr–Volynskyi and Kovel celebrated the Divine Liturgy in a small chapel, while the faithful were compelled to pray outside. Some worshippers managed to get into the chapel, but most stood under the open sky.

Despite the rain during the service, parishioners stood praying – some with umbrellas, others without – lifting their hearts to God.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Volodymyr addressed his flock with words of comfort and encouragement. He urged the faithful not to lose heart and to continue praying despite the trials they face.

As the UOJ previously reported, on October 10, when the authorities seized the Cathedral, dozens of police vehicles surrounded the building. Believers gathered at the church walls – many came during the night to defend their sanctity. However, access to the temple was blocked. Inside were government officials and unidentified individuals inspecting the premises and filming without clergy present.
