MinCulture meets with international partners at Lavra's Refectory Church
The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was once again used by the authorities for a secular event.
`At the Refectory Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a meeting of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine with international partners took place. The event was reported on social media by the Minister of Culture, Tetiana Berezhna.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Office of the President, MPs, and staff of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra." The Reserve stated that the Lavra is now used as a platform for strategic meetings and international cultural interaction.
"The thousand-year history of the Lavra proves: heritage is a resource for future decisions. That is why we are ready to join projects that strengthen the resilience of the cultural sphere, expand international interaction, and create new opportunities for the development of Ukraine's cultural potential," the Reserve's statement says.
According to Berezhna, the meeting was dedicated to issues of international cooperation and cultural policy. The minister presented the updated team of the ministry, strategic tasks and priorities for the next year, as well as a number of international projects implemented with the participation of foreign partners.
According to her, "in the walls where Ukrainian culture was created for almost a thousand years," it is the best place today "to talk about cooperation". "Ukrainian culture was and is part of European culture. Our histories, art, music, and languages intertwined and influenced each other," the minister claims.
At the Refectory Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where the event took place, services of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were regularly held in the past. Recently, secular and official meetings organized by state structures have been regularly held within its walls.
