As a result of Jerusalem shelling, fragments fall near Holy Sepulchre Church
According to Israeli police data, fragments of missiles and interceptors were found in the Old City of Jerusalem.
As a result of Iran's missile strike on Jerusalem, fragments of missiles and interceptors fell in the Old City near the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – one of the main shrines of the Christian world. This was reported on March 16, 2026, by Israeli law enforcement agencies, according to international media.
According to police data, after repelling the missile attack, ammunition fragments were discovered in several locations in the Old City. Among them is the area located near the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the territory adjacent to the Temple Mount and the Jewish Quarter.
It is reported that the fragments could belong to both the missiles themselves and the anti-missiles of the air defense system that were used to intercept them.
As a result of the fragments falling in the historic part of the city, no damage to the shrine was recorded, and no information about casualties was received.
As the media notes, citing law enforcement agencies, one of the fragments fell on the roof of a building belonging to the Jerusalem Patriarchate, which is located in close proximity to the church.
