Islamist Fulani militants attacked a Christian community in Nigeria’s Kaduna state, killing a pastor and abducting dozens of local residents.

In late February 2026, an attack on a Christian community in Kaduna state, Nigeria, left a pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ dead and dozens of believers abducted, according to Christian Daily. The assault was carried out by Islamist Fulani militants, members of a nomadic people spread across several West African countries.

The attack took place in a predominantly Christian village. According to local residents, armed Fulani militants stormed the community in the evening and targeted Christians.

The pastor killed in the assault had served the congregation for only a few months. In addition to the killing, the attackers carried out a series of kidnappings of local residents. According to police, some people remained missing after the incident.

Residents say the area had already faced serious security problems before the latest attack. In the aftermath, believers called for prayers for the affected families and for the protection of Christian communities. Rights groups say such attacks form part of a broader pattern of violence against Christians in Nigeria, where radical groups continue to target civilians.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that Islamists in Nigeria had killed parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church.
