Dumenko says Filaret will be buried at St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral
The head of the OCU has disclosed details of Filaret Denysenko’s funeral.
On the evening of March 20, 2026, Epifaniy Dumenko spoke about the next steps surrounding Filaret Denysenko’s funeral. A video of his remarks was published on the OCU’s YouTube channel.
Dumenko led a litiya for the departed head of the UOC-KP at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kyiv and addressed those gathered. He said that after the ceremonies are completed, Denysenko’s body will be taken to St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral in the capital and buried on its grounds.
He also said that further details of the funeral would be announced later.
As the UOJ previously reported, the OCU leadership’s decision to hold the farewell at St. Michael’s Cathedral directly contradicts Denysenko’s own “spiritual testament.” In the document, which entered the public domain in October 2025, the leader of the UOC-KP categorically forbade representatives of Dumenko’s structure from conducting his burial.
