The Industrial District Court found no grounds for the legal formalization of a union between two men.

On March 20, 2026, the Industrial District Court of Kharkiv rejected the application of two local residents, Dmytro Liaskovetsky and Yevhen Donets, to establish the fact of their cohabitation as one family, reports the website of the public organization "All Together!". The applicants demanded legal recognition of their relationship as familial, but the court deemed the claims unsubstantiated.

During the proceedings, the public organization sent expert clarifications to Judge Viktor Cherniak. In the letter, activists pointed to norms of the Constitution and Family Code of Ukraine that exclude the possibility of recognizing the fact of cohabitation as one family by two men.

The public activists emphasized that such lawsuits are attempts by destructive forces to attack the institution of marriage in the country. The hearing was accompanied by a protest action.

According to the applicants, they will consider the possibility of filing an appeal after receiving the full text of the court decision. According to legislation, they have 30 days to appeal the first instance verdict.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that "KyivPride" organizers announced dates for holding an LGBT march in the capital.
