A convent in the Kherson Eparchy came under fire during the Divine Liturgy.

On March 29, 2026, the Annunciation women’s monastery in the village of Pryozerne, Kherson Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was damaged during a massive shelling of the Bilozerska territorial community, the diocesan press service reported.

The monastery was reportedly struck during the Sunday Divine Liturgy as a result of a Russian attack.

A direct hit caused significant damage to the monastic cells, utility buildings, and shattered the windows of the church.

“Thank God, there were no casualties,” the Kherson Eparchy said.

Earlier, it was reported that since the start of the war, 395 UOC churches have been damaged by shelling, according to an official report.

As previously reported by the UOJ, a UOC church dedicated to the Nativity of the Theotokos in Kherson was also damaged in shelling.
