In Jerusalem, Jewish believers banned from visiting Western Wall during Passover
Israeli police announced restrictions for Jewish holidays.
In Jerusalem, a ban on public access to the Western Wall has been introduced for the duration of the Passover holiday. This is reported on the official website of the Israeli police.
As noted, the decision was made "under the conditions of the ongoing Operation 'Shagat ha-Ari'" and in connection with the current security situation, as well as in accordance with rear command directives.
The police iPolice indicate that although in normal years during the days of Passover hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and worshippers visit Jerusalem and the Western Wall, under the current conditions authorities have urged citizens "to act responsibly and follow the instructions of the security forces."
According to published data, throughout all the holiday days, access to the shrine will be completely closed to Jewish believers. The Jaffa Gate will also be blocked, and public transport to the Western Wall will not operate.
"The traditional priestly blessing ceremony, which annually gathers tens of thousands of people," the police warn, "will this year be held in a limited format – with only 50 priests participating."
At the same time, a live broadcast of the event will be organized on official resources.
