DESS congratulates Ukrainians on Passover
DESS has published an address in which it compared the biblical Exodus with the modern path of the people toward freedom and peace.
On April 1, 2026, at sunset, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) addressed citizens on the occasion of the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. In their congratulatory message on Facebook, the agency emphasized that this feast has been telling the story of the "path from bondage" for thousands of years, which today everyone experiences in their own way.
DESS noted that there are dates that come not simply as numbers on a calendar, but as special feelings. "This is a story about people who did not break. About choosing to move forward even when it was scary, when there was only uncertainty and desert ahead," the congratulatory message says.
The authors of the address drew a parallel between ancient events and modernity, emphasizing the relevance of the holiday's meanings for every person. "Passover – it's not about old scrolls. It's about each of us today. About our personal 'exoduses from Egypt' – from pain, despondency, or losses."
In conclusion, DESS wished all celebrants faith that is "difficult to hold onto, but which is the only beacon," as well as inner light and "hope that cannot be extinguished." "May the path we walk today necessarily lead us to a life where peace and true freedom reign," the state agency concluded.
