Three monastic tonsures performed at Mezhyrich Monastery
New monks were tonsured in the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC.
On April 3, 2026, on the eve of Lazarus Saturday, at the Mezhyrich Holy TrinityMonastery, Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh performed monastic tonsure, reports the eparchial press service.
The rite of tonsure was led by Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh, who in his archpastoral prayer blessed the newly tonsured on the path of monastic service.
On this day, hierodeacons Euseviy and Simeon, as well as novice Volodymyr, received tonsure. They renounced the world, took monastic vows and received new names: Euseviy – Hierotheos, Simeon – Sophronios, Volodymyr – Archip.
Addressing the newly tonsured, the hierarch noted that monasticism is a path of constant spiritual labor and inner struggle.
"Remember that monastic life is not only clothing or a name, but daily work on oneself, constant prayer and humility. In all trials, hold fast to Christ, and He will strengthen you, help you walk this path to salvation," he said.
The Metropolitan also called upon the monks to preserve brotherly love, obedience and zeal in prayer, emphasizing that it is through this that the spiritual strength of the monastic community grows.
As the UOJ wrote, monastic tonsure was performed at the women's monastery in the village of Holovchyntsi.
