Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria celebrated the funeral service for two sisters killed in the shelling of the city.
On April 7, 2026, the feast of the Annunciation of the Mother of God, a funeral service was held in Kherson for parishioners of the cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – the blood sisters Iryna Snihyr and Maryna Stupak, who were killed in the shelling of the city. This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Eparchy.
The funeral rite was celebrated by Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria. Relatives, loved ones, and parishioners who came to bid farewell to the deceased prayed during the service.
Addressing those gathered, the hierarch expressed his heartfelt condolences to the sisters’ mother, their relatives, and all who knew them. He offered prayers for the repose of their souls, asking the Lord to grant them the Kingdom of Heaven.
As the UOJ previously reported, a shell struck a UOC church in Kherson, and the rector’s wife was injured.
