Representatives of the Jewish community called the mass production of kosher bread at the regional level one of the few examples in Ukraine.

The "First Bread" factory  of Chernvtsi has officially begun mass production of kosher products for residents of the region. The enterprise received a kashrut certificate from the chief rabbi of the Chernivtsi region, Menachem Mendel Glitzenstein, reports the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine on Facebook.

The rabbi now personally oversees compliance with religious norms at all stages of bread baking. The list of certified products includes four popular types: Orilsky, Dnistrovsky, Borodynsky, and Alchevsky.

Factory director Bohdan Honchar explained the decision as a desire to raise quality standards and meet the needs of different communities. "For the Jewish community, this is a guarantee of compliance with religious canons," the enterprise head emphasized. "For other buyers, this becomes additional independent quality control of products."

Buyers can identify kosher bread by a special oval-shaped mark on the bottom crust of each loaf. The project was implemented through the efforts of Menachem Mendel Glitzenstein and local community activists Yosef Wexler and Leonid Milman.

Kosher baked goods have appeared on the shelves of regular retail chains and in branded stores in Chernivtsi on a permanent basis. Community representatives noted that this case became a rare example for Ukraine of organizing mass production of religious products at the regional level.

As the UOJ reported, Ukraine decided to introduce a coordinator for combating antisemitism.
