Yelensky namest number of conflicts over transfers to OCU
The head of the State Service for Ethnopolitics believes media reports about conflicts do not reflect reality.
On June 3, 2026, a press conference on the findings of a study of Ukraine’s religious landscape was held in Kyiv, where Viktor Yelensky sought to downplay the scale of interconfessional tensions in the regions.
The official claimed that tensions between religious communities over transfers into the structure headed by Epifaniy Dumenko exist in “slightly fewer than 20 localities.”
According to Yelensky, media reports describing widespread clashes connected with such transfers do not correspond to reality. He said that the study confirmed that “Ukrainians are extraordinarily tolerant in the religious sphere.”
As previously reported by the UOJ, a UOC archimandrite was assaulted during the seizure of a cathedral in Kremenchuk and subsequently sought medical treatment for his injuries.
