Online users outraged by music video featuring singer Polyakova as Christ
Users called Ukrainian singer Polyakova's use of the Crucifix blasphemy and sacrilege.
Ukrainian singer Olya Polyakova found herself at the center of a scandal after the release of a new music video in which she appeared in the image of the Crucified Jesus Christ. The video, which among other things uses profanity, provoked a sharp reaction from viewers who considered such artistic techniques offensive to the feelings of believers, reports Telegraf.
The artist presented a new composition as part of her scandalous musical project TheNogi. The song is dedicated to life, which, according to the authors' concept, should not be put on pause. However, public attention was drawn to a fragment of the video where Polyakova appeared as the Crucified Christ.
After the video was published on social media, a significant portion of users sharply criticized the clip, calling the use of the Crucifixion image blasphemy and inappropriate use of religious symbolism in entertainment content.
"Polyakova hit rock bottom, to humiliate faith and saints is simply horrible... I don't know what words to choose";
"God, my Lord... forgive them, for they know not what they do";
"God cannot be mocked";
"Usually it's not agnostics or even just non-believers who blaspheme, but those who dislike Jesus, namely demons. Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, those who serve a somewhat different structure having sold their souls, perform the same acts on stage and also rituals and ceremonies. People swallow it. They mocked all religions, but no... only Christ is intolerable to them";
"When there is no internal censorship, there's no need to talk about culture. This is complete degradation".
As the UOJ reported, in the Chernihiv cathedral, drama theater artists danced before holy relics.
