Bishop Job of Kitsman consecrated a cemetery and offered prayers for the repose of the departed residents of a Bukovynian village.

On June 2, 2026, Bishop Job of Kitsman consecrated memorial crosses, a chapel, and the cemetery in the village of Vartykivtsi, Dnister Raion, Chernivtsi Region. The news was reported by faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.

Concelebrating with the hierarch were Archpriest John Protsiuk, dean of the Kelmentsi District and a mitred archpriest, along with other clergy of the eparchy.

Following the rite of consecration, Bishop Job served a memorial service for all those buried in the local cemetery and offered prayers for the repose of their souls.

According to the report, a significant portion of the work to improve the cemetery, install the memorial crosses, and acquire additional land for future burials was carried out with the active support of Archpriest Zachariah Kerstiuk, a native of Vartykivtsi. The site holds particular significance for the priest, as his mother is buried there, and he continues to cherish her memory.

The eparchy noted that the consecration was an important event for the village community and a testimony to ongoing efforts to preserve Orthodox traditions, maintain burial grounds, and uphold prayerful remembrance of the departed.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Longin presided over the patronal feast of a monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Molnytsia.
