The Turkish minister said he had asked God for the post of governor of Jerusalem.

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi has predicted the return of Jerusalem to Turkish rule. Speaking at a ruling party gathering in Ankara, the official expressed confidence in the restoration of the Ottoman Empire’s borders and called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan a "global leader," Israel Hayom reported.

Mustafa Çiftçi said Turkey would soon regain control over Jerusalem, just as it had previously gained influence in Karabakh, Damascus, and Aleppo. The minister stressed that these lands had historically belonged to the Turkish government and would inevitably become part of the state in the future.

He expressed his strong belief that under Erdoğan's leadership, the country would become "a global power instead of a regional power."

The minister also spoke of his long-standing dream of becoming governor of Jerusalem, even for a single day. Çiftçi said he constantly asks God for this in his prayers.

As the UOJ reported, Erdoğan prayed in Hagia Sophia on the anniversary of the conquest of Constantinople.
