Usyk: Ukrainians and Russians have the same blood color – we need agreement
According to Usyk, when he calls for reaching an agreement with Russia, he speaks not as a politician but as an ordinary person and a Christian who wants peace and does not understand the logic of hostility.
On June 10, 2026, at the America's Adversaries: The Russia Reality summit in Washington, Oleksandr Usyk called on Ukraine and Russia to engage in negotiations, stressing that the peoples on both sides of the conflict share “the same blood.”
Answering questions, the world champion emphasized that he was speaking not as a politician but as an ordinary person, admitting that he does not like politics “at all” and prefers genuine human interaction.
“We need to reach an agreement. We have reason, we have the same blood – it is red. Everything is being destroyed by our ego and by the absence of God in our lives,” the boxer said. At the same time, he stated that “for many years Russia has wanted to destroy the Ukrainian language, Ukrainian history, and Ukrainian people.”
Usyk also expressed confidence that Ukraine would prevail over Russia.
“I simply know it. I pray, I feel it. I don’t know, maybe the Lord gives me this sense – because we did not start this. I read the Gospel every day. And Ukrainians fight every day for their home,” the boxer said.
At the same time, Usyk added that the Lord helps those who “do not seek what belongs to others but defend what is their own,” referring to the commandment, “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.”
As the UOJ reported, Usyk previously said that what the authorities are doing to the UOC is dividing the people.
