The rector, Archpriest Oleksandr Prochenko, said that the authorities have threatened to demolish the church by force. However, after parishioners united in prayer, the community was granted a temporary reprieve.

Archpriest Oleksandr Prochenko, rector of the Transfiguration Church in Kyiv, spoke about the threat of the church’s demolition in a video address to the faithful. The video was published on the priest’s YouTube channel.

According to Fr. Oleksandr, the authorities demanded that the parish dismantle the church on its own, warning that if it refused, the building would be demolished forcibly. The faithful did not comply with the demand, and services continue to be held in the church.

The rector said that the community received a postponement immediately after parishioners responded to a call for united prayer, agreeing to recite the Lord’s Prayer twelve times each evening for peace.

Archpriest Oleksandr Prochenko thanked everyone who joined the prayer effort but warned that the situation remains unstable.

“Anything can happen at any moment. We are preparing for that,” the rector said.

He urged parishioners to continue praying for the preservation of the church.

As previously reported by UOJ, the Supreme Court ruled that the demolition of Desiatynnyi Monastery in Kyiv was lawful.

The UOJ also reported that the Supreme Court upheld the legality of the demolition of the Tithes Monastery in Kyiv.
