President of Serbia discusses spiritual ties between nations with Patriarch Shio
In Tbilisi, Aleksandar Vučić and Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia confirmed the importance of partnership and strengthening of faith in the relations between the two countries.
On June 15, 2026, the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić visited the Georgian Patriarchate as part of an official visit. The head of state met with the Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Catholicos-Patriarch Shio III, reports the UOJ in Georgia.
Together with the Serbian leader, the Patriarchate was visited by the President of Georgia, the First Lady of Serbia Tamara Vučić, and the spouse of the Georgian President Tamar Bagrationi. The parties discussed the centuries-old historical, cultural and spiritual heritage that unites the Orthodox peoples.
Aleksandar Vučić and His Holiness emphasized the need for further development of friendly ties and deepening of partnership between Georgia and Serbia. In their view, spiritual unity remains a solid foundation for interstate cooperation and the strengthening of interpersonal relations.
As the UOJ reported, Patriarch Shio became the godfather of more than 600 children.
