Conservation work on the roof of the Assumption Cathedral at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has been completed.
On June 23, 2026, emergency restoration work at the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was completed at 100% of the planned scope. This was reported by Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Andriy Danyk.
To protect the building from further moisture damage, specialists completely covered the damaged sections of the roof with protective materials. Thermal guns are currently operating around the clock inside the cathedral, drying out the structural elements and interior spaces.
More than 100 rescuers from various units worked to save the cathedral for over a week, deploying 25 units of specialized equipment. Andriy Danyk thanked the staff for their professionalism and emphasized that for millions of people this cathedral remains "a symbol of faith, history, and spiritual strength." He noted that thanks to the efforts of the rescuers, it was possible to preserve an invaluable spiritual heritage.
As SPZh reported, the authorities showed the President of Honduras and a US diplomat the destruction at the Lavra.
