In Nigeria, the first monument to Christians killed by Islamists has been unveiled

In the Nigerian state of Benue, the country's first-ever memorial to victims of religious persecution has been unveiled, bearing the names of 270 believers martyred by radicals. This was reported by Christian Post.
The monument was unveiled in the town of Yelvata — the site of last year's bloody massacre carried out by Islamic militants on Father's Day. Hundreds of men, women, and children fell victim to the attack.
The memorial was erected by the missionary group "Equipping the Persecuted." According to the organization's founder, Judd Saul, the names of the victims have been carved in stone so that the world will never forget their feat of faith, and so that the persecution of Christians will be brought to an immediate end.
The ceremony was attended by survivors of the tragedy and representatives of various religious communities. The opening of the memorial was accompanied by the distribution of humanitarian aid, as more than 3,000 people were forced to flee their homes as a result of the Islamist attacks.
As the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported, 33 militants who killed worshippers inside a church were detained in Nigeria.
