Court hearing in the case of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC postponed
The court has scheduled the next hearing in the case concerning the liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC for July 22, 2026.
The Sixth Appellate Administrative Court of Kyiv has granted the defense's motion in the case of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC. This was reported by UOC attorney Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
The court postponed the hearing on the SESS lawsuit seeking the liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC to July 22, 2026, at 10:00. The lawyers called on the faithful to support the Church with holy prayers throughout the further court proceedings.
The legal dispute has been ongoing since September 2025, when the SESS demanded through the court the liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC. In response, representatives of the Church filed a counterclaim demanding that the actions of the SESS head be declared unlawful and that the order approving the "religious studies examination" of the UOC Statute be annulled.
On May 19, 2026, the Cassation Administrative Court fully granted the Metropolis's appeal within the framework of these proceedings. The court overturned the decision to separate the claims of the counterclaim, which had previously been challenged by UOC lawyers. Prior to that, the appellate court declared the SESS examination itself "defective" and devoid of legal force.
As the SPJ reported, the UOC challenged in court the unlawful decision of the Kyiv Regional Council.
