MP: Placing a pantheon in the Lavra is a symbolic decision
MP Yevhen Petruniak commented on the Cabinet’s resolution to place the Ukrainian National Pantheon on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Ukrainian MP Yevhen Petruniak has backed the Cabinet’s decision to build the Ukrainian National Pantheon (UNP) on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. He wrote this on his Facebook page.
“Placing the Pantheon specifically on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a symbolically weighty decision. This is a place that for many centuries has been the spiritual heart of Ukrainian statehood,” Petruniak wrote.
According to him, “an architectural competition, a scholarly concept, and public discussions” still lie ahead.
“The work is only beginning, and the face this place will have for future generations depends on how seriously we approach each of its stages,” the MP said.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to former MP Ihor Mosiychuk, the decision to build the Pantheon in the Lavra was made personally by Zelensky.
