Europe recorded 40 anti-Christian crimes in June – report

According to the OIDAC Europe report, in June, arsons, vandalism, desecrations of shrines, and attacks on Christians were recorded in ten European countries.

In June 2026, 40 hate crimes against Christians were recorded across ten European countries. This was reported in the OIDAC Europe report.

According to the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe, June became the second month of 2026 by number of such incidents, after March, when 41 cases were registered. The attacks targeted churches, clergy, Christian institutions, and individual believers.

The report states that during the month, 12 arsons, nine acts of vandalism, eight cases of desecration, three episodes of physical violence, three thefts of religious objects, two threats, as well as one disruption of a religious service and one attempted seizure of a religious site were recorded.

The highest number of incidents occurred in France – 11 cases. Germany recorded eight crimes, Italy – seven, Poland – four, Belgium and Spain – two each. Anti-Christian incidents were also registered in the Netherlands, Estonia, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.

OIDAC Europe emphasized that the most persistent trend remains the arson of Christian sites. The organization also noted a rise in acts of vandalism and desecration, stating that many Christian communities are facing not isolated episodes but ongoing manifestations of hostility.

The Union of Orthodox Journalists previously reported that nearly 30,000 Christians have fallen victim to violence in Nigeria over the past six years.
