Rico Passero supported his brother’s homosexual union, calling the celebration “epic” and “special.”

In Canada, Catholic priest Rico Passero served as host at his brother’s gay wedding. The pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Grimsby, Ontario, praised the celebration on social media, calling it “epic” and “amazing,” LifeSiteNews reports.

The event took place in the Niagara Falls area in early July 2026. The cleric wrote on Facebook that he had hosted the reception celebrating the marriage of his brother Anthony and his partner, Aldair Martinez Garcia. He thanked relatives and friends for supporting the union.

According to Passero, he is still moved by “one of most special and amazing celebrations” he has ever attended.

The priest’s conduct directly contradicts the Catechism of the Catholic Church. According to Vatican teaching, homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered” and contrary to the natural law. RCC doctrine defines such acts as mortal sin and calls people with such inclinations to chastity.

Journalists sent an inquiry to Bishop Gerard Paul Bergie of the Diocese of St. Catharines to find out whether disciplinary measures would be taken against the cleric. As of now, the diocesan administration and Rico Passero himself have not commented on the situation.

As the UOJ reported, a Catholic nun opened a transgender support group at a monastery.
