Patriarch Porfirije donates blood and calls on believers to become donors
The Primate of the Serbian Church called on believers to respond and support voluntary blood donation campaigns.
Serbian Patriarch Porfirije participated in a voluntary blood donation drive in Belgrade. This was reported by SPJ in Serbia.
On the feast day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, the Primate of the Serbian Church, immediately after the festal Divine Liturgy, became a blood donor at an event organized in the parish house of the Church of Saint Sava, in order to support those in need through personal example and to call believers to works of mercy.
The drive was organized by the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Serbia together with the Serbian Orthodox Church. The main goal of the initiative was to promote voluntary blood donation and to provide assistance to those in need of blood transfusions.
During his participation in the drive, the Primate emphasized the importance of philanthropy and Christian solidarity. Patriarch Porfirije called on the people to actively respond to such appeals and to offer whatever help they can to their neighbors.
The Serbian Patriarch has regularly participated in blood donation drives for many years. Through his personal example, the Primate seeks to demonstrate to society the significance of this act.
As SPJ previously reported, the Serbian Church condemned the verdict against Patriarch Porfirije in Slovenia.
