Moroccan theologian Ahmed Yetib converted to Catholicism and spoke about the threats he has been receiving after publishing a video about his faith.

Belgian teacher Ahmed Yetib has reported receiving threats following his conversion from Islam to Catholicism, reports the C4U organization.

Ahmed Yetib, a Moroccan-born Catholic religion teacher based in Charleroi, Belgium, became a Catholic in 2018. According to him, after his baptism his family cut off contact with him, and recently the situation has escalated: he was subjected to a wave of online threats and abuse after students discovered his TikTok account. The teacher admitted that he fears for his life, recalling the murder of French teacher Samuel Paty, who was beheaded by an Islamist in 2020.

Yetib said that his story was included in the June report of the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC Europe). The organization reported 40 registered attacks and cases of persecution of Christians for their faith in just the past month. ts analysts note that the threats often come from radical Muslims, while the attacks are frequently linked to the issue of apostasy from Islam.

As the UOJ reported, Britain is to establish a council against antisemitism and Islamophobia.
