Metropolitan Pavel celebrates Divine Liturgy at Holosiiv Monastery
UOC hierarchs celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the academic church of Holosiiv Monastery on the feast day of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshhorod and Chornobyl, abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the academic Church of St. John of Damascus on the grounds of the Protection of the Mother of God Holosiiv Monastery. The service was held on the feast of the uncovering of the relics of St. Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh, and the commemoration of St. Athanasius, Abbot of Mount Athos, the press service of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra reported.
Metropolitan Pavel was joined in the service by Metropolitan Clement of Nizhyn and Pryluky, Chairman of the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as clergy of the Pechersk monastery and the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful sang the troparion, kontakion, and magnification to St. Sergius and read a prayer before his icon.
Metropolitan Pavel thanked the concelebrating clergy for their prayers, congratulated those celebrating their name day on the feast of their heavenly patrons, and congratulated the communicants on receiving the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
As the UOJ reported, a court earlier opened proceedings in a lawsuit filed by DESS seeking the dissolution of the Holosiiv Hermitage.
