Holocaust memorial desecrated in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region
Vandals painted Nazi symbols and antisemitic graffiti on a Holocaust memorial in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region and damaged its granite surface.
On July 21, 2026, unidentified individuals desecrated the Remember for the Future Holocaust memorial in the city of Samara, Dnipropetrovsk region, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine reported.
The vandals defaced the monument with Nazi symbols and antisemitic graffiti and also damaged its granite cladding.
The memorial commemorates nearly 4,000 civilians murdered during the Nazi occupation, including 360 children.
Samara Mayor Serhii Reznik said he had reported the incident to law enforcement and announced a reward of 50,000 hryvnias for credible information leading to the identification of those responsible. Informants will be guaranteed anonymity if necessary.
According to Reznik, those responsible should be held accountable not only for desecrating a memorial site but also for displaying Nazi symbols and antisemitic slogans. City authorities pledged to restore the damaged memorial, while law enforcement vowed to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
As the UOJ reported earlier, unknown individuals looted a historic Russian Orthodox church in Tehran.
