At the Lebedyn St. Nicholas Convent of the Cherkasy Eparchy, Metropolitan Anthony led the Liturgy and a procession with the relics of St. Avvakum of Cherkasy.

On July 21, 2026, a Divine Liturgy and procession with the relics of Venerable Confessor Avvakum of Cherkasy were held at the Lebedyn St. Nicholas Convent of the UOC’s Cherkasy Eparchy, the eparchy’s press service reports.

The service, celebrated on the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the saint’s commemoration day, was led by Metropolitan Anthony, Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The relics of St. Avvakum of Cherkasy rest at the convent.

Metropolitan Anthony was concelebrated by Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, Bishop Anthony of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, vicar of the Cherkasy Eparchy, as well as eparchial clergy and visiting clergy.

During the Liturgy, the abbesses of the women’s monasteries of the Cherkasy Eparchy, the convent’s sisters, and the faithful prayed in the church. Those attending offered prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is suffering persecution.

As the UOJ reported earlier, thousands of UOC faithful took part in a procession to the Protection Convent in Marynivka.
